About this journey
Among Farmers is an open-ended journey for independent travellers who want to experience life on a local farm while having the freedom to tailor the rest of their stay.
Your stay includes accommodation on a local farm and the opportunity to join the farmers in their morning routines and getting a glimpse into their work. They will also welcome you in their home for one home-made dinner, giving you the opportunity to enjoy authentic local food, and spend time together listening to their stories and sharing your own.
Sheep-related activities are possible from October to April, when the sheep are at the farm. Other seasonal experiences, such as sheep round-ups and lambing, take place at specific times of the year and may be available if you have a particular interest in them.
At the farm there is a small guesthouse, and two apartments. We encourage you to book your place as early as possible, as the accommodation options are subject to availability.
The rest of your stay is yours to shape. You can explore the surrounding area by bicycle or kayak, head out on a guided hike, visit local museums, soak in the many outdoor heated pools in the area, play a round of golf (an indoor golf simulator is also available), or take to the cross-country ski trails in winter. You can choose as much or as little as you like, according to your interests, energy and the season.

Preparedness
Weather can change quickly in the Westfjords, so it is important to come prepared for changing conditions and ready to enjoy the outdoors whatever the day brings. For general guidance on what to bring, see our guide to What to Pack for the Westfjords.

Transportation
Travel to and from the Westfjords is not included in this journey, allowing you the flexibility to choose the option that best suits your itinerary and preferences. We are happy to help arrange selected transportation options. For more information, please see our guide Getting to the Westfjords.
Bicycles and e-bikes can be pre-booked and delivered directly at the accommodation.
Pricing
Prices are in Icelandic króna (ISK).
The price of this journey varies depending on your accommodation preferences, the number of people travelling with you, and any additional services/activities you may request.
Næra Westfjords allocates ISK 1,500 per adult from the journey price to the volunteer rescue teams in Vesturbyggð, in recognition of the invaluable role they play in keeping residents and visitors safe in our municipality. Contributions are donated annually at Christmas.
Payment
A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm your booking.
The remaining 75% is payable in a single payment no later than 30 days before the start of the journey.
You can pay securely by card via a payment link or by bank transfer. Payment instructions will be sent only from bookings[at]naerawestfjords.is.
Cancellation Policy
The following cancellation policy applies:

A non-refundable deposit of 25% is required to confirm your booking.

Cancellations made 30 days or more before the journey starts will not incur any additional charges beyond the non-refundable deposit.

Cancellations made less than 30 days before the start of the journey are not eligible for a refund.
All cancellations must be made and confirmed in writing to bookings[at]naerawestfjords.is.
We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance to cover trip cancellation, medical expenses, personal belongings, and any other unforeseen events that may affect your travel plans.
